Information and Committee
The society was formed in 1996 by a group of
railway enthusiasts who lived in the Llandudno and the Conwy Valley area. In
addition to their general interest in all types of railways, preserved and
modern, they were interested in the history of all railways and the Conwy
valley and north Wales lines in particular.
The society has since gone from strength to
strength and now boasts over one hundred members, most of whom are regular
attendees at its meetings. We also organize out door evening visits to places
of local interest, day trips by coach to preserved railways and other events
and trips by train to railway centres using group fares. We send out a
newsletter three times a year. We have adopted the old up platform garden at
Tal-y-Cafn station on the Conwy valley line, where members can usually be found
working on Saturdays, weather permitting. A replica station name board has been
made by one of our member and can be seen on the platform.
Our archive section is actively researching and
collecting items from the railways of North Wales. We have a number of items on
loan to the Llandudno museum. However the bulk
of our material is kept in the Conwy County archive in the Old School, Lloyd
street Llandudno, were it can be viewed be anyone. We are often asked to provide information on all aspects of
railways and can usually find someone with an answer.
We are always delighted to welcome new members
and would be more than happy for potential members to come along for a couple
of meetings as visitors to get to know us. If you are interested in what we
have to offer come along to one of the meetings. We feel that we offer good
fellowship with people who share the fascination of railways. Visitors to the
area are always welcome to attend our meetings and join us on our tours and
visits.
If you have found the above interesting you my
like to visit the other pages on this website. A full list of meetings, tours
and event organised by the society can be found on the Programme page. Pictures
taken on some of our past visits together with local photos can be found on the
Picture Album page. The Links page lists other websites of local interest, some run
by LCVRS members.
Below is a list of the society’s committee and
other officers together with their contact details, who will be pleased to help
with any queries you may have.
