Larry Davies has sent some interesting photos
from his collection
The
first is of what must be the largest steam loco ever to work on the Conwy
Valley Line

Brian Cowlishaw took the
photo showing 46143 "The South Staffordshire Regiment" approaching
Glan Conwy with a special destined for Betws-y-Coed, where a youth festival was
being held in I believe 1960. Look at the wagons on the old "scrap
line!" and something is going in on the main line.
The next Two photos were both
taken at 6G, Junction shed on the 30th May 1966
With visitor 45274 from
Kingmoor amongst Patricroft standards, 73140, 73141 and 73158 on side of
shed. Inside shed is 75029
Almost out of place is EE Type
4 D231 Sylvania on crew training - note tail lamp!!

Long
time Coast favourite Black Five 44917 stands forlorn on the side of the 6G shed
on the 6th November 1965 - rods removed - she awaits that last journey but fate
was on her side and she was reallocated to Chester in April 1966 and was
finally condemned from Crewe South in November 1967. She was broken up at
Cashmore's Great Bridge in March 1968.

Next
is Conwy Station the day after it closed in February 1966. 45145 eases the
Sunday morning Holyhead - Broad Street
Meat train past an engineer’s possession. The
signs were taken down within days.
